The Craftroom 10th Jan 2015 – Clean and simple
Welcome back to the first Craftroom crafty afty of the new year
So many exciting things happening at the moment and my resolution to buy less crafty stash this year has already been broken with all the new releases and now CHA in America with more new stuff !!!
A new group has also been set up on Facebook by Rae Aloha Dahal called Journal heART 15 this a a MUST join group for anyone who is into art journalling or like me a complete newbie to AJ. Rae will be taking us on a AJ journey thoughout the year with lots of techniques, hints, tips and encouragement from her and all the other members (over 100 already and still growing) Here is the link to Raes blog too where you will find more info and videos etc.
Her prompts for week one included selecting just up to 4 colours only to use on your page and also gave us links to a couple of videos (can find on her blog) showing variations of the Bokeh and northern lights techniques.
Now please bear in mind I also had the weeks craft room theme to plan too for which I had Spring, clean and fresh in my head
Taking 3 colours of Dirstrss inks ( Salty ocean, Mustard Seed and Ripe Persimmon) and using a mini blending tool cloloured an A5 size piece of card starting with blue to yellow to orange. This was to be the background for the “Bokeh” technique
Different video’s show different mediums being used to “lay down” the white circles, from white pigment ink to Gesso (with a sponge) I had a go with TH Distress stains picket fence (just because it was to hand)
Totally engrossed I for to take pictures until after I had decided to cut the piece of card into 3 and over stamp using embossing ink and white embossing powder. The stamps used are the bluebells and daffodils from Sheena Douglas’s range.
No journal page yet but now have 3 lovely clean and simple spring fresh cards to show as samples for todays session lol.
Still trying to lay down some background pages in my journal I brought out the Brushos and now have a couple more samples for this afternoon.
I did mop up the dregs in my journal so have now made a start!!!
The postman has just knocked on the door and gave me a parcel, yes was hoping these would come for this afternoon, my craft stash of “Spring” stamps was basically what I have used above, but have a few more now so the ladies will be happy
From Chocolate Baroque
Now just to ice the cup cakes
And all set for this afternoon
New year, new format, I am going try and post a blog before our crafty afty session to show what we will be getting up to and then the following week (or mid week if time ) I can do a show and tell on how the ladies have interpreted the ideas given.
Let me know what you think
