Happy Father’s Day

There was no Saturday Crafty Afty session this week so I thought I would just share with you a couple of things I have been playing about with this week.

I started the week with an idea for a card I wanted to make for my dad  and as the Clarity Challenge this month is “masculine” I thought I would incorporate that into the mix and just use Clarity stamps.

So here is my thought process through the week on how my card developed.

First the backgroundIMAG0926

I wanted a sepia vintage feel and played around with distress inks and Clarity masks and stencils onto the back of some hammered effect cream card.. Think that will do

Next the focal point

IMAG0928The balloon was stamped out 4 times onto craft card , twice using gold embossing powder and twice with a brown embossing powder. then cut, layered and then played a bit more with the distress inks.

Now to give the card a bit of depth

IMAG0929This a a Tonic square frame that I have stuck some torn pieces of tissue paper too. Now to finish it, it just needs some matt medium though a dotty stencil for some texture, watered down acrylic paint, distress inks and last but not least – yes, had to get it in somewhere, gilding wax.

Now this did start off with the intention of being my Dad’s Father’s Day Card but, when my daughter saw what I had done she suggested that it might be better as his birthday card.

Thats when  the light bulb went on, yes she was right! It is my Dad’s 80th in October

So stamped out some letters using the letterbox kit  with  potting soil Archival and the distress inks again

and one birthday card sorted

and made into an easel card

Now I just have to make his Fathers Day card, again.

He is waiting for a hip replacement op at the moment, so his mobility is  not so good but he is managing to keep up some of his chores, like feeding the birds and has apparently got to know some of them quite well now. A rat was also spotted in the garden and it took him a whole afternoon trying to sort that out.At least it gave him something to do.

This is just to explain the reasoning behind the card I finally made him for Fathers day

IMAG0938IMAG0940Can you spot the rat? hehe it was Jenna’s idea and the only way i could manage it was to stamp out a fox from clarity’s woodland set and make a few adjustments.
