Birthdays and Gelli
You can’t have a Birthday without Gelli.
Having an abundance of Birthdays this month, I plucked up the courage to have a play on my new (xmas presi) large Gelli plate. I have a small one which I love but this is BIG.
And play I did, I now have lots of different Gelli prints all ready to use for card backgrounds. I love that there are bits left over with the larger prints to make matching embellishments.
I was my daughter’s 30th birthday yesterday (where has the time gone, I don’t feel much more than 30 myself) so picked out a nice fresh spring look print.
And my Younger brothers 49th on Sunday.
Thought I would just remind him that time is ticking
With both cards I cut an acetate front which I attached to a frame then layered over the Gelli print using shaker tape to give a little depth. I like to use acetate as it allows me to embellish without distracting from the print too much.
With my daughters card I also embossed onto the acetate to bring out the flower shapes in the background and am really pleased how it turned out.
And had plenty of print left for the flowers and butterflies
I had better clear away my mess now ready for our “zentangle” class tomorrow. My daughter, Jenna who is taking the class this month took all the groups first attempts at a tile last week,
mounted them onto card and has drawn a “zentangle inspired” border around them It is now framed and on the craft room wall for the group to see tomorrow. I will make sure I have a photo when I do the craft room blog after tomorrows class.
