The Craft Barn’s Q&L Challenge – no 4 Marriage and Age

The Craft Barn’s Q&L  4th challenge of the year gave us the words marriage and age.

I found it quite a challenge this time to find a quote for this one. there are a lot of quotes out there for both words and I even found one with both words in but, the majority of the ones about marriage seemed to be from people who had  not enjoyed their married life ( I have put this politely) Although they are in the minority as many more marriages survive than fail, it seems they are the ones that speak out the most. In my own family, although I myself have never married, my parents have celebrated over 50 years together and both my brothers have celebrated over 25 years so it can’t all be bad. Anyway being single I thought I would go with age, but again put the word age and automatically the word old also appears. I may have now passed the the half way mark but I am definitely no where near to feeling old!!  Maybe 28 again, I did like that quote from Bleubeard and Elizabeths entry.

In the end I chose the quote “Beauty knows no age ” it is an anonymous quote but I loved the simplicity of it.

The last couple of weeks in our Saturday crafty aftys  I had introduced the group to the gelli plate and had pulled a few prints using different techniques to show them. One of the prints was where I had used a piece of card to take the second(ghost) prints and clean the plate. I just loved how it finished up and knew I wanted to use it as the background for my tag

I knew I wanted poppies and stamped out a few images, but was not happy with the effect, it needed something bolder

A couple of die cut flowers inked up with spiced marmalade,  and barn door distress inks, spritzed and scrunched, definitely bolder

Then it was back to the acetate. dabbed a piece  with alcohol inks on the back and stamped some butterflies with Stayzon and also wrote out the words of the quote onto a clear piece.

Not quite what I had in mind when I started, but that’s the way it goes sometimes

  9. Wow, I can’t believe I missed out on your lovely shout out about my quote. Like you, I’ve never been married, but I also ran into the problem when I looked for age quotes or lyrics. I really like your choice of quotes, because it’s SO true. And your tag is stunning, especially since I’m a big fan of poppies.
