Clarity Challenge 9 Christmas
Needing motivation to get all my Christmas cards made,
I thought if I made one for the Clarity Challenge it might just get me started.
I played around with a few ideas using the new Christmas stamps I have just purchased but nothing really sparked. I then watched Barbara’s new dvd and the tutorial with alcohol inks. I had purchased the two sets on offer over the last couple of months from Clarity and this gave me an idea!
Using the Tim Holtz alterations tattered poinsettia die cut 2 each of the 3 petals in red and green card for each flower. I laid them all out on the work top and using the Clarity Happy Christmas stamp stamped randomly all over them using versamark ink then embossed with gold embossing powder, inked round all the edges (patience) shaped the petals, assembled and finished with some gold gems in the centres.
Using the spellbinders grand dies I cut the card layers in cream and gold. I embossed the cream card using a Crafters Companion embossalicious folder, but thought the gold was a bit too gold though and this is where the alcohol inks came in. I knew I could use them on acetate but on gold foiled card? Worth a try, so I put some dots of ink onto the felt and dabbed randomly all round the edge, loved the effect and got a bit carried away putting round the tag and also the acetate overlay for the tag too. Just to finish off the edging I again stamped all round the edges with versamark using the holly stamp from the Christmas miniatures set and embossed using Rangers antiquities frosted crystal, very subtle.
A few coiled wires and Happy Christmas embossed in black on the acetate overlay and all done. A little OTT maybe but it is Christmas and it is for my Mum and Dad.
